International Men’s Day is observed on November 19 and while it celebrates the contributions of men it is also about raising awareness about key issues like mental health. It aims to empower men and Kanan Aditya Malhotra believes in celebrating men and talking about their issues.
He says, “I somehow agree that our society often struggles to understand man’s emotional and psychological needs, largely because of deeply ingrained stereotypes. We believe that men are supposed to be strong mentally and physically. These expectations can be restrictive and harmful, making it difficult for men to express their authentic selves.”
He continues, “When we talk about equality, it must include everyone of all genders. True equality isn’t about favouring one group over another but about ensuring fairness, understanding, and the ability for everyone to live authentically without being restricted by stereotypes or societal expectations.”
Kanan feels, “We need to bring about more awareness for the health issues prevalent among men, both mental and physical. I’m happy that a day such as
International Men’s Day
honours the beneficial contributions males make to society. It offers a forum for talking about important topics including mental health, challenge myths, and promoting gender equality.”
Kanan was last seen in TV shows like
Punyashlok Ahilyabai
, Chand Chupa Badal Mein and Rab Se Sohna Isshq among others.
