iOS 18 rumored to overhaul stock iPhone apps like Photos, Mail, Notes and Fitness

There’s a possibility that Apple will overhaul some of the stock apps preinstalled on iPhone with iOS 18, including Photos, Mail, Notes and Fitness.

Asked about what’s coming in iOS 18 beyond the rumored AI features, Mark Gurman wrote in the latest edition of his Power On newsletter for Bloomberg that iOS 18 will update the look and feel of the most popular stock apps on iPhone to make them more “modular” and “easier to update and customize.”

Gurman didn’t say whether other apps might be updated nor would he say if Apple would revamp the above apps on iPad and Mac, but that would be logical.

Gurman also didn’t comment on whether the overhaul effort might bring new functionality to these apps. But if you read iDB, you already know the answer to that.

As we reported earlier, Apple is allegedly adding mathematical notation to the Notes app. Another new feature in Notes is recording voice notes from within the app.

Apple Maps on iPhone should pick up custom routes and topographic maps and we know RCS support is coming to Messages because Apple said so.

As per recent reports, iOS 18’s Calculator app will be updated with new features and made available on iPad for the first time. At the same time, Calculator for Mac will be redesigned to resemble its iPhone counterpart in macOS 15.
