If there’s a theme for this story, it’s ‘popular animated women characters expanding from music into gaming’. Avatar star Hatsune Miku takes centre stage in a new game for Nintendo’s Switch console called Fitness Boxing feat. Hatsune Miku. Part of an existing series of boxing games that has sold more than 2.5m copies, the game features 24 music tracks, with plans for more downloadable content over the next month.
The second story is something we spotted while checking out the official website for chillout-music brand Lofi Girl, whose eponymous character is best known from her appearances in YouTube videos and streaming playlists. It turns out Lofi Girl is also exploring the world of Fortnite. Four official maps for the game’s creative mode have already been launched. ‘Lofi Girl Explore’ is a recreation of her famous room; ‘Lofi Girl Simulator’ puts players in her shoes; and ‘Study vs Chill’ is a capture-the-flag game. Lofi Girl (the company) has also launched a ‘Fall Beans Island’ map for people to hang out and chat, inspired by the Fall Guys games. An interesting expansion for the brand, we think.
