Just over one in 10 people who took part in NHS England’s Type 2 Diabetes Path to Remission (T2DR) programme, which involves a three month “soups and shakes” diet, went into remission, a study has shown.
The study, published in Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology,1 assessed NHS England’s programme, focusing on people who were referred from September 2020 and had time to undertake the full 12 month programme by 31 December 2022.
The research team, which included Jonathan Valabhji, NHS England’s national clinical director for diabetes and obesity until last September, found that 190 of 1710 patients (11%) were considered to be in remission.
